Grading

I just wanted to take a minute and get the grading policy out there. Here's how it works.

Assessments are worth 70% of your grade and Daily Work is worth 30%

Algebra students are required to maintain a C- or better to remain in the class.

Each assignment is "DUE" the next day. If it is completed on time it will be stamped, indicating it has automatically earned a 3 out of 3 points. It will be stamped if all questions are given a realistic attempts.

If it is not completed on time, the highest grade it can earn is 2 out of 3 points. That would happen if it was completed before our two-week turn in day.

If it is left unfinished and turned in, it will earn a 1 point. If it is lost or less than half of the assignment is attempted, it will earn a 0 out of 3.

Our turn in days will consist of a "cover sheet" handed out to students. It contains a list of all assignments for the past two weeks. Students will find their assignments and indicate if they earned 3 if they were stamped, 2 for completed but not stamped, 1 for not completed, or 0 if they lost it or finished less than half.

I will then select 50% of the cover sheets at random and grade them myself. If their grade is more than 2 points higher than mine, they will lose all credit for the cover sheet.

We will have turn in days every other Friday. IF YOU CAN'T HOLD ON TO AN ASSIGNMENT FOR THAT LONG I HAVE FOLDERS AND FILE CABINETS AVAILABLE FOR YOUR USE. YOU MAY LEAVE IT IN MY CLASSROOM.

Our first turn in day will be a week from this Friday.

Let me know if you have any questions.
